Travel Details
We are so honored that you’re willing to make the trip to celebrate with us! Nantucket isn’t the easiest place to get to, but we hope you’ll leave here with the same belief that we have that it is totally worth it!
That said, Nantucket is a popular destination in the summer, so things like flights, ferries, and accommodations tend to book up quickly. We highly encourage you to make travel arrangements as soon as they become available.
Below we’ve described a few ways to get to the island and hope this helps you navigate your travel plans. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you may have. We are more than happy to help however we can!
Option 1: Flight
Flights are available to Nantucket (ACK) from most major airports with connecting flights through Boston, New York, New Jersey or DC. If you’re traveling from outside of the North East this is the most efficient way to get to the island.
Airlines typically release flight schedules 11 to 12 months in advance, though this can vary slightly by airline and route, so we recommend booking flights as soon as they become available.
For convenience, we recommend flying directly to Nantucket if possible. If a connecting flight is necessary, sticking with the same airline can make the process simpler. If you notice that your flight itinerary includes a Cape Air flight, please note that it's most efficient to fly Jet Blue as the coordinating airline, as it's located within the same terminal at Boston Logan International and they partner with Cape Air to be able to check your bags all the way through to your final destination.
With that being said, if your travel plans include a Cape Air flight, it feels wrong not to mention that these planes are small - think 10 seaters. But, don’t worry, these flights are a memorable experience and offer incredible views as you approach the island.
Once you land on the island, we recommend either taking a taxi or Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft to your destination. Taxis are readily available at the airport, however if you would like to make a reservation in advance please see below:
Diane’s Taxi: 508-221-5399
Will’s Taxi: 508-332-0499
All Point Taxi: 508-228-5779
Island Taxi: 508-221-6069
Option 2: Fast Ferry
The “fast ferry” is about an hour long passenger-only boat ride from the mainland to Nantucket. It departs from Hyannis, Massachusetts and has departure times usually available all throughout the day.
You can book your Fast Ferry through Hy-Line Cruises or Steamship Authority. We recommend making your reservations early, as tickets for June typically become available in March or April.
To take the fast ferry, you can drive to Hyannis, Massachusetts and park your car at lots near the ferry terminals for an additional fee while you’re on Nantucket. For additional information about parking, please visit this link if your ferry reservation is through Hy-line Cruises and this link if your ferry reservation is through Steamship Authority.
Finally, if you fly to the Boston Logan Airport, you can take a bus from the airport to Hyannis. The bus ride is about two hours and the Hyannis bus station is about a 10-minute walk or 5 minute taxi to the ferry terminals. You can also hire a car service (Pro Limo or Go Green Shuttle or Uber) to pick you up from Boston Logan Airport and take you directly to the ferry terminal.
Option 3: Slow Ferry
The “slow ferry” is about a two hour boat ride from the mainland to Nantucket. This boat allows both passengers and vehicles. You do not need to bring a vehicle on the ferry in order to buy a passenger ticket. Passengers can travel with or without their vehicle on the slow ferry.
To take the slow ferry, you can drive to Hyannis, Massachusetts (141 School Street, Hyannis MA) and park your car at a nearby lot or take it on the boat with you! If you decide to take your car to the island with you, we recommend making a ferry reservation as soon as they become available in January 2026, as they tend to book up quickly.
Bringing your car to the island isn’t necessary, especially if you’re staying in town, but it’s worth considering if you’re staying outside of town. Convenient alternatives like rental cars, taxis, Ubers, Lyfts, and island shuttles are also available. You can book a “slow ferry” ride through the Steamship Authority.
Option 4: SeaStreak Ferry
Another option is the SeaStreak Ferry, which offers multiple departure points. You can catch the ferry from New Bedford, MA, at 49 State Pier, New Bedford, MA 02740. There are also ferries that depart from Highlands, NJ, and NYC, although these sailings are typically limited in availability. It’s worth checking the schedule when the dates are released in early 2026.
SeaStreak offers three parking options: valet, private parking, and off-site parking. Tickets and parking reservations can be made online at SeaStreak’s website.
